Back | Print

There was vibrant celebration of India's 68th Republic Day at the National University Library, which also marked 25 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Croatia. The choice of the venue was important, demonstrative of Embassy's ongoing initiatives to establish institutional linkages with renowned Croatian academic institutions. There was a moving rendition of Indian and Croatian National Anthem by the Zagreb Soloists String Orchestra, followed by varied dance performances by the Zagreb University students and Apsaradhe Oriental Dance School. The Speaker of the Parliament, Mr. Bozo Petrov was the Chief Guest, who gave an inspiring speech on advancement of bilateral relationship. The event was attended by a large cross section of people, including Heads of all religious faiths, and the youth. Our thanks to the Zagreb City Mayor for turning the public fountain at the prominent city square into the colours of the Indian Flag to mark the special occasion!
