IMPORTANT POINTS TO BE NOTED
In other cases, when an OCI cardholder receives renewed passport each time, he/she may upload a copy of the new passport and latest photo of size 51mm x 51mm at https://ociservices.gov.in/ under the OCI Miscellaneous Services category.
If an OCI cardholder applies for updation within 3 months of receipt of the new passport, the service is provided without any charges of fee. In other cases, when an OCI cardholder applies for updation of passport particulars more than three months after the issuance of a new passport, the application will be processed only upon receipt of the prescribed fee of €26, payable online to Embassy’s designated bank account.
The applicant is required to visit the Embassy after payment of the fee. After making the payment, the applicant must upload the payment receipt and request form on the OCI portal to enable further processing of the application. Further, upon update of the new passport details on the OCI Services Portal, the revised passport particulars shall automatically stand reflected on the e-OCI record, thereby eliminating the requirement for the OCI Cardholder to carry the old passport for verification purposes.
Similarly, all other relevant particulars of the OCI Cardholder shall remain digitally updated in the e-OCI system on a real-time basis, unlike the existing physical booklet system where details remain static unless a fresh booklet is issued.
In case of OCI cardholders registered under Foreign Spouse category, apart from the copy of the new passport containing the photo of the passport holder and a latest photo, the OCI cardholder and his/her Indian spouse / passport and OCI cardholder and declaration stating that their marriage is still subsisting should be submitted.

- There will be no restriction on the OCI cardholder to travel to/from India during the period from the date of issue of new passport till the date of final acknowledgement of his/her documents in the online system. There is no requirement of submission of application at the Embassy.
