On 16 October 2026, H.E. Arun Goel, Ambassador of India to the Republic of Croatia, accompanied by his wife, Mrs Anita Goel, visited the City of Požega.

During his meeting with Mayor Prof. Dr Borislav Miličević, discussions focused on opportunities to strengthen India–Požega ties through cultural cooperation, literary exchange, traditional music events and tourism promotion.

The Ambassador and Mrs Goel also visited the Požega City Museum, where they learned about the region’s rich cultural and historical heritage and its longstanding connections with India. These include the legacy of Prof. Dr Josip Fališevac, a distinguished Croatian infectious disease specialist who contributed to public health in India through his work with the World Health Organization, as well as ongoing academic cooperation between Croatian and Indian scholars.

The visit provided an opportunity to explore new avenues for collaboration and further strengthen the bonds of friendship between India and Croatia through culture, education and tourism.
