Today,1 October 2026, HŽ Infrastruktura and Afcons Infrastructure Limited signed a contract for the reconstruction of the existing and construction of the second track of the Dugo Selo–Novska railway line — one of the major railway infrastructure projects currently underway in Croatia.

The nearly €900 million investment, co-financed through EU funds, will contribute to strengthening Croatia’s railway network and improving connectivity along the TEN-T corridor towards Serbia and further east.

For India, the project holds particular significance as it marks the first major infrastructure project in Croatia involving an Indian company, Afcons Infrastructure Limited, bringing Indian engineering expertise and international experience to a major European infrastructure project.

The project represents an important step in strengthening India–Croatia economic and business ties, while highlighting the growing presence and global reach of Indian companies in Europe.
