On Sunday, 14 June 2026, the central celebration of the International Day of Yoga was held in the green surroundings of Bundek Lake Park in Zagreb, under the global theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”

The event commenced at 9:00 AM with opening remarks by the Ambassador of India to Croatia, H.E. Mr Arun Goel, who underscored the growing popularity of yoga in Croatia and its role in strengthening cultural and people-to-people ties between India and Croatia.

This was followed by Ms. Nella Popović from the Office for Intercity and International Cooperation, representing the Mayor of Zagreb, who highlighted the importance of initiatives that promote health, wellbeing, and community engagement.

A special address was also delivered by Mr. Jadranko Miklec, a renowned Croatian Yogacharya, who welcomed the attendees. Yogacharya Miklec is the recipient of the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award of India for his outstanding contribution to the promotion and development of yoga and was acknowledged for his long-standing efforts in fostering yoga practice in Croatia.

The celebration was supported by a number of organisations, including Kundalini Yoga, Yoga in Daily Life, the Croatian Yoga Federation, Mohanji Croatia, and Art of Living, among others. Approximately 130 participants took part in the session, contributing to an atmosphere of peace, unity, and mindful movement.

The programme concluded in a relaxed and friendly setting, with light refreshments and an opportunity for participants to connect and socialise in the tranquil environment of Bundek Park.
