Historic Ratha Yatra in downtown Zagreb, 29 July 2017

Zagreb, for the second year, came alive with the sound, colour and vibrancy of ‘Ratha Yatra’ reproducing the 3000 year old Orissa tradition of the ‘Festival of Chariot’. A beautifully decorated wooden chariot was pulled by fervent participants from the European Square, onwards to Ban Jelacic Square and Zrinjevac Park before concluding the journey at the picturesque Tomislav Square. The event was hosted by ISKCON.

The celebration of the event in Zagreb was in conformity with the global commemoration of the Festival, transforming it into a cross-boundary experience, transcending the frontiers of culture. Around 300 people lined the streets of the Yatra, to a festive display of song, dance and ritual.
