The Embassy of India, in cooperation with the StaRR Table Tennis Club, hosted an international amateur tournament that took place in STC Zagreb on Tuesday, June 6, 2023. The tournament was attended by 11 diplomats (from 8 different countries) and 11 guests who played 63 games of table tennis. of tennis within 3 hours.

The proud winner of the international table tennis tournament is Saša Markovski, an employee of the city of Grad Rab second place went to Branimir Blajić, the manager of the company Best Hospitality Solutions for hotel management, while the third place was won by Neven Bosilj, the mayor of the city of Grad Varaždin.

The tournament was opened by the Ambassador of India to Croatia, Raj Kumar Srivastava, Renata Suša, director of the Zagreb Fair, and Ronald Ređep, president of STK "STARR".

Ambassador Srivastava assessed that the goal of such events is to further strengthen interpersonal ties through sport and a strong partnership with Indian table tennis academies. "Table tennis is extremely popular not only in Asia, including India but also in Croatia, which has a number of players on the world rankings, which shows us the universal aspect of table tennis, which is present in the bilateral relations between Croatia and India."

Renata Suša praised the mentioned initiative and invited all interested partners to explore the possibilities offered by the Zagreb Fair. As the motto of this tournament is to strengthen interpersonal ties through sport, the director of the Zagreb Fair expressed her satisfaction that the Zagreb Fair is the venue for this sports event organized by the Starr Table Tennis Club from Varaždin and the Embassy of India in Croatia.

The event also witnessed a beautiful musical intervention by the famous Nenad Bach, an American-Croatian musician, composer, performer, producer and peace activist.
