Mahatma Gandhi’s 154th birth anniversary was celebrated in Zagreb. Ambassador Srivastava recalled Mahatma's teachings which still impact humankind to further the spirit of unity and compassion. His ideals of cleanliness, self-reliance, and democracy are guiding many of the development programs of the Government of India today. His idea that “Democracy is the art & science of galvanising people’s physical. economic, and spiritual strength, for making the country prosperous & stronger” is visible when you see India as the largest & oldest democracy on the planet.
